sqlclean skills
Install the SQLClean skill so AI coding agents know its commands, Rules and configuration.
sqlclean skills writes the SQLClean skill into your project, so AI coding agents such as Claude
Code, OpenCode and Cursor know how to check, fix and format SQL, configure sqlclean.toml and
write custom Rules. The skill ships inside the sqlclean package with a copy of every page of
these docs, so it always matches the installed version.
sqlclean skills [--target <TARGET>]... [--global] [--force]# Install the agents and claude targets (default)sqlclean skills
# Install for Claude Code onlysqlclean skills --target claude
# Install under your home directory for every projectsqlclean skills --global| Flag | Description |
|---|---|
--target <TARGET> |
The agent to install for: agents, claude or opencode. Repeat it for several. |
--global |
Install under the home directory instead of the configuration root |
--force |
Overwrite skill files that SQLClean did not generate |
Targets
Section titled “Targets”| Target | Project path | Global path |
|---|---|---|
agents |
.agents/skills/sqlclean/ |
~/.agents/skills/sqlclean/ |
claude |
.claude/skills/sqlclean/ |
~/.claude/skills/sqlclean/ |
opencode |
.opencode/skills/sqlclean/ |
~/.config/opencode/skills/sqlclean/ |
Without --target, SQLClean installs agents and claude. OpenCode and several other agents
read the shared .agents directory; Claude Code needs its own .claude copy.
The project path is relative to the directory of the nearest sqlclean.toml, or the working
directory when there is none.
Updating
Section titled “Updating”Every file SQLClean writes carries a generated-by: sqlclean skills comment. Rerun
sqlclean skills after upgrading SQLClean:
- Generated files are rewritten with the new version’s content.
- Generated pages the new version no longer ships are removed.
- A file without the comment, such as one you wrote yourself, is never overwritten. The command
stops with exit status 2 before writing anything, unless you pass
--force.
